Iona studied Fine Art Printmaking at Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art (1991-1995). She went on to study at SNDO School for New Dance Development, Amsterdam (1996-1998) and later Cirkuspiloterna (renamed DOCH), Stockholm (2003-2005).
She has been performing her solo works and choreographies internationally for 25 years and lived most of that time based abroad.
To date her works have been presented in 20 countries and many cities major theatres and festivals.
Iona is a former dancer with Belgian companies ; Ultima Vez / Wim Vandekeybus and Les Ballets C de la B / Les Ballets C de La B.
Her company 'Knights of the Invisible' was established in 2009 with musician Joseph Quimby. The next creation will premiere in 2021 in France.
Throughout the years she has been continually drawing and painting and specialising in large scale detailed pencil works. They are surreal, figurative worlds of dreaming. A theatrical vision, reinventing layers of ideas through drawing.
Smaller colour drawings and paintings are more traditional. They search for a physical energy within the style and mood within the colours.
Iona is based at Wasps Studios , The Briggait, Glasgow.
